Our Story

In the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a group of passionate youths in Kisumu County, Kenya, observed their community grappling with unprecedented challenges. The confluence of economic hardship, pervasive poverty, and the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS had exacerbated issues of maternal and infant malnutrition. Witnessing these struggles firsthand sparked the determination to make a difference.

Our Director, with a background in Maternal, Infant and Young Child Health, felt a responsibility to address these needs of our rural and underserved community. He had seen the devastating effects of malnutrition on mothers and young children, understanding that the first 1,000 days of life impacted heavily on long-term health and development.

Inspired to act, he envisioned an organization that could provide sustainable solutions to these pressing problems. Thus, Ndaloh Heritage was born.

The name "Ndalo," rooted in the Dholuo language, signifies "days" or "a piece of land," reflecting our organization's commitment to nurturing growth and health from the ground up. The founder's vision was clear: to promote nutrition, food security, and overall well-being in underprivileged communities during the early stages of life.

Sorghum Fortification

We aim to transform Siaya County's agriculture by maximizing the potential of sorghum through innovative research and collaboration. By improving sorghum fortification, we seek to combat malnutrition, especially among expectant mothers and young children.

Our goal is to empower farmers, merchants, and retailers in Gem and Rarieda with scientific knowledge and sustainable practices, therefore enhancing the quality of food products.

Our in-person and virtual training covers food preservation, fortification, value addition, and agribusiness development, equipping participants with practical skills to enhance nutrition, reduce post-harvest losses, and create market-ready products. Through this, we foster innovation and economic empowerment, driving sustainable solutions for a more resilient and food-secure future
